At some point in our history most of the population in "developed" or "modern" nations abandoned wooden products in favor of plastic ones. However, this was a decision that wasn't good for the Earth with plastics being made from non-renewable fossil fuels, processing polluting the land and waters, and with people disposing of these products in landfills.
