How To Install Mini Blinds
64Today, mini blinds are often used under curtains or drapes instead of shades. They are convenient to clean and are easier to open and close. You can also adjust the slats and change the angle of the sunlight. These can be aluminum, wood, or magnetic mini blinds. It is easy to find the exact size because most hardware stores stock the standard sizes. You can custom order them if they aren't in stock. Some of the tools that you'll need to install your blinds include measuring tape, a pencil, a drill and a screw driver. Most drills have screw driver bits that will make the installation much easier.
- The first step is to measure the width and height of all of the windows. Don't forget the basement if you have windows downstairs. Write all of the measurements down.
- Go to the hardware or department store and purchase your blinds. White is probably the most popular choice as it is neutral enough for drapery.
When you open the blinds, locate the socket support bracket and screws. Hold the socket bracket up against the side and back part of the window. Next, move the bracket forward about an inch or so and mark the holes on the side of the window with a pencil. You can also attach the bracket above, too. And you can also use an outer mount if you have a door with a window. Just mark the holes correctly.
- If you have a drill, find a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the holes. Drill holes where the pencil marks are located. If you don't have a drill, use a hammer and nail to create a small opening for the screw.
- Once you have the holes made, align the bracket with the holes. Then start securing the screws to the bracket. Repeat this on both sides of the window.
- After that, mark and secure the center clip above the middle of the window frame. You may not need it for very small windows but it adds to the support.
- Next, slide both sides of the blinds into the brackets above and the lock them in place with the little door covers. After that, slip the center support clip around the middle top of the blinds.
- Hang the two valance clips in the open spot between the bar and top of the blinds. Place them about 4 inches from the end.
- Attach the rod that opens and closes the blinds to the clip above.
After you have your blinds locked in place, pull the drawstring and test the functionality of the blinds. You'll want to check the durability of the brackets as well as whether the blinds latch and open the way they're supposed to.
Hang the rest of your mini blinds the same way. If you have a lot of windows and expect the job to take more than a day, cover the bathroom and bedroom windows first. Later, you can hang curtains to add color to the window. I hope this quick guide to getting your home improvement project on the way gave you a better understanding on how to complete this task.
